Why the Lotus Flower Image?
What does the Lotus Flower have to do with Acupuncture?
The lotus flower symbolizes new beginnings.
It is regarded in many different cultures as a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth.
The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with beauty. Untouched by the impurity around it, the lotus flower symbolizes purity of the heart and mind. It rises above despite its’ challenges.
Growing out of murky waters, the lotus flower’s roots anchor it in the mud but the flower rises above its environment each morning blossoming open, one petal at a time to bloom in beauty facing the sun. It remains grounded. Proud of what it is and yet still apart from its environment. It beautifies the environment and makes it better simply by just being there.
Just like the lotus flower, we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world!

Officially, Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. However, recent estimates show the disease ranks closer to third as a cause of death among older adults, just behind cancer and heart disease. While Alzheimer’s disease and related Dementias are more common among aging adults, it is not a normal part of the aging process.
